Interruption, Consistency and Giving Up

Effective Faith
3 min readDec 7, 2023

At the start of November I made a commitment to post on my blog, every single day until the end of year. I have failed. That’s one way of looking at it. But, there is more to it than that. This is a matter of interruption, consistency and giving up. And actually, why failure need not be an option.

Interruption

Let me give a brief, if vague explanation of why I haven’t posted every day. Something happened. I have been interrupted. Something came up that is important enough for me to decide to give time to it and therefore not post every single day.

This is all part of humility and intentional living. Effective decision making. Sometimes, things come up. Interruptions, distractions, call them what you will. They aren’t worth the time. They are things that could side track you from what is important. But, that is not ALWAYS the case. Sometimes, things happen, and they are important enough to allow yourself to get interrupted.

It’s part of humility because it involves accepting that our best laid plans may not be the way life actually takes us.

It’s part of intentional living because it takes intention and thought to work out what needs to interrupt you and what shouldn’t
